Streams and Schemes - Rebecca Kinkade

Image
Let me say first, Rebecca Kinkade is one of my favorite follows on Threads . She's just nice, and fun, and delightful, and I love her energy. So I was so excited to love this book so much.  Streams and Schemes is a neighbors to lovers, super spicy, rom-com about a cam girl and a lawyer and their absolutely ADORABLE friends.  While I love the romance here, I love the found family aspect of this story more than just about anything. I want to be a part of the guys friend group, the girls friend group. I just want to be friends with every character in this book.  Valeria is a cam girl who has been eye fucking her lawyer neighbor, Lander, for a year but refuses to approach him because her hard limit is ... no lawyers. Which I can respect. Standards are important, ladies.  That of course lasts only a short while until it doesn't and they begin the sexy war of wills and sexy schemes transpire to see if they will give in to the heat between the two of them. And of course the...

The Sweet Spot - Bella Matthews

Image
If you've been reading the Playing to Win series like me you've been DYING to know who Brynnie had on the couch since Ares walked in on them in The Knock Out and now we know! In the newest book in the series, The Sweet Spot, we meet Deacon Kane the new coach of the Revolution and get to watch Brynnlee get her happy ending!  And what a happy ending it is! He's the older man, he's a single dad, he's forbidden because he's her boss, and she's dealing with a life changing medical issue, it's got all the pieces parts for a delicious yummy drama. And delicious it is!  I love this series so much. They're pretty, rich kids with pretty, rich problems and its so fun to get lost in this world for a little while. I devoured this book so quickly. Deacon is a great new addition to the family. This is a solid 4 Star read and a great beach day read too. Highly recommend for a chillin pool side with a beer or mocktail. This whole series is great for that vibe!  I am...

A Love Letter to the books of Shain Rose

Image
I stumbled on the writing of Shain Rose due to an instagram post about Shattered Vows and I was like ... interesting. So, then I had to read the Tarnished Empire series because you can't start a series in book three, obviously. I am so glad I did. Now I have read every book she has in print and I am so glad I have. I may have read her series out of order but they're all worth a read and all... delicious. So, lets talk about them. First up is the New Reign Mafia Duet , Heart of a Monster and Love of a Queen . Here we meet Rome Armanelli and Katie who share a dark and twisted history and a romance that is ... unconventional? Let's go with that. Kate-Bait is one seriously bad ass bitch who goes from victim of sex trafficking to queen of an empire. Rome, Bastian, and Dante and the entirety of the mafia? Kind of along for the ride.  Next up, let's go over to the Stonewood Billionaires trilogy.   This is where I really started to fall in absolute LOVE with Shain Rose. Trul...

On my Bookish BS

Hello there, nice to meet you, I am the writer of this BS. I am a 40 something, cis, bisexual, married female. I am a data analyst and former English major with too much time on her hands and a love of all things bookish.  I am in my romance, romantasy, smutty book era and I am loving it.  I'm doing my best to read more indie, queer, and minority authors. As much as I love SJM and Rebecca Yarros I know there's a whole world outside of that delicious mainstream bubble so ... yeah.  Some posts may be about just how incredible an author is. Some posts may be about tropes and themes that are awesome or really grind my gears. All posts will be book adjacent but may not be about just one book. Again, I am here for the vibes, I am on my bookish BS after all.  Hang out, meet some new authors, support them by reading something new with me, and enjoy. Or don't. This is really about me having an outlet. Cool? Cool.

A Little Tempting - Kelsie Rae

Image
A Little Tempting is the second book in the The Little Things series by Kelsie Rae and probably my favorite book by her so far.  Dylan is the youngest child of Colt & Ashlyn from Rae's Don't Let Me Fall  and she is just ... well relatable. I am a hot mess of anxiety and clumsiness and awkward and like to ignore all my social engagements and never talk to an attractive person again. She also has terrible headaches and migraines from getting hit in the head with a hockey puck by Everette (the eldest son of Macklin and Kate from Don't Let Me Break ) when she was younger and there's a whole lot of angst and guilt there so he acts more like a protector than even her two older brothers Jaxon and Griffin do.  What a great set up for ALL THE TENSION when super innocent little Dylan goes off to college with all the hot hockey players living RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO HER, right? Absolutely.  Especially when hockey hottie and super damaged Oliver Reeves takes an interest in her....

A Little Complicated - Kelsie Rae

Image
A Little Complicated is the first book in the The Little Things series which is the second generation novel offshoot following the children of the couples from the Don't Let Me series .  After having read the five books of the Don’t Let Me series I was like “Oh, I know what I'm getting myself in to with Kelsie Rae." And yeah, she follows her same basic vibe here and then HITS YOU IN THE HEART WITH THE BIGGEST HEAVIEST PLOT TWIST THAT CAN DESTROY THE HEARTS OF EVERYONE EVER. Sure, I knew it was going to happen. I saw it telegraphed. But surely she wouldn’t? And then she did. And I cried for like the last third of the damn book. Did I love it? Yes. Was it okay? No. Was it worth it? Yes. But still. How dare you. My heart. The book centers around the relationship between Ophelia (daughter of Theo and Blakely from Don't Let Me Go) and Maverick (son of Henry and Mia from Don't Let Me Down). Opie and Maverick had been having a secret relationship prior to her starting he...

Pay the Price - Sadie Hunt

Image
Pay the Price by Sadie Hunt is the second book in the Blackwell Beasts series and is closely tied in with the events of the Aventine University Series .  This book had me on the edge of my seat from cover to cover hoping to find out the deeper mysteries set up in Gather the Storm and while some things were answered … I need the third in the series so bad.(September? Too long!!) Daisy, Wolf, Jace, and Otis continue to search for answers around what Daisy's dead brother was involved in prior to his death, answers about what her fathers dealings may have had to do with his darker side, her mothers history and more. Is anyone in Blackwell Falls who they seem to be? Because it doesn't feel like it. Eesh!  AHHHHHH reading series in progress in so hard because when they’re this intense and end how this one did waiting until the next book comes out is PURE TORTURE. The chemistry between the FMC and the three MMCs is unmatched, the spice was spicing, the mystery is mystering, the suspe...
