Thorns Duet - Rina Kent

Image
Stumbling through the RinaVerse, we come up next to the Thorns Duet.   Red Through and Black Thorns tell the story of Sebastian Weaver and Naomi Chester and their very messy, bloody love story.  Naomi is a cheerleader, in theory, but she has never really belonged to the inner circle.  Sebastian is the hunkiest football player.  When Reina Ellis, the queen bee of the cheerleaders, makes a dare for Sebastian to sleep with Naomi he has to take the bait and thus the chase begins.  And I mean that literally. So much chasing and some incredibly dirty primal play sexy times later they realize how good they are together but not before Naomis history comes back to haunt them.  Who is her dad and why is he such a mystery that her mother refuses to acknowledge him? That's the big question and that question leads to the incredibly nail biting cliffhanger of book two.  Which leads us to a time jump as fashion house CEO Naomi and bad ass lawyer Sebastian conti...

Lies and Truths - Rina Kent

Image
Let's get mafiatastic with the Rinaverse and the Lies and Truths duet. Asher Carson and Reina Ellis are deliciously dirty when put together. Who is the REAL Reina Ellis? Does Asher love her or hate her?  After an accident leaves Reina with memory loss she is forced to navigate the world again and figure out who and what she is. It's not an easy answer.  Asher Carson is her betrothed and ... they can't seem to stand each other? Why? Well there's a story there.  Who can they trust? Can they even trust one another?  This duet includes some delightful high school drama, intense family drama, a way over the top MMC in Asher, and so many twists and turns that I was dizzy by the end!  5 star spice, 5 star read. Add one more to my book boyfriend list.

Kingdom Duet - Rina Kent

Image
Continuing our trip through the Rinaverse, lets talk about the awesomeness that is the Kingdom Duet.   Hello Jonathan King. Father of Aiden. Uncle of Eli. Total badass billionaire businessman and sex god. Was I expecting to lust after the dad as hard as on Aiden and Eli? Nope. Did I? FUCK YES.  Then meet Aurora. Half sister of Jonathans deceased wife, Alicia. She has been fascinated and terrified of Jonathan since she was a teenager, even younger, and now she is back in his orbit after having avoided the King family all together since her sisters passing.  It's giving enemies to lovers, forbidden lust, forced proximity, age gap, and five star heat.  Aurora is a very complicated character and I loved watching her grow and change through these two books.  Jonathan? He's got depth but he's just ... intense all the time. About everything. Everyone. All day. Like... as much as people talk about the younger Eli King, or Brandon and Landon King I am all in on Gra...

Royal Elite Series - Rina Kent

Image
I started out the RinaVerse by reading the very BookstaGram loved Legacy of Gods series.  I loved them and I was obsessed with the very dark, morally grey to black MMCs. Then one day while scrolling IG I saw a thread about the most recent book in the LoG series and how "Aiden King would never..." My brain was like wait, how do they know what his dad would do?  One Google rabbit hole later I realize there are not just 6 books in the LoG series but multiple other series that add up to THIRTY FOUR books to read and now... here I am. On the last trilogy before I am fully caught up to the LoG series.  I am further obsessed. I mean goddamn there is some fantastic writing, incredible characters, and twisted storylines to enjoy long before we meet the LoG guys.  Starting with the Royal Elite Series .  Eight books of intense dark romance. 4 of them are "standalones" and then there is the trilogy that covers the story of one couple, and an epilogue that gives us some clos...

A Groom of One's Own - Emma St. Clair

Image
A sweet, cozy romance like this may seem out of place with everything else I read but this was a perfect book for a lazy day of reading. A Groom of One's Own  by Emma St. Clair is a marriage of convenience, secret love, simmering love story.  Eli is playing hockey with the AHL affiliate for the Carolina Hurricanes, the Appies, when he finds out that he has Visa trouble and needs to marry in the next 30 days to stay in the US with his ailing mother and his dream job.  He goes to his favorite spot to think, the animal shelter, where his crush, Bailey, works. They're not quite friends but there's an element of trust there and he tells her what's on his mind while he snuggles a hard to adopt pup.  Panties everywhere melt. This book has plenty of sizzle but stops short of being spicy. Still the kisses are more than enough to get your heart rate up.  Their path to love isn't easy and is awkward - but they like awkward! - and t's fun to read. Their dates are ador...

My Brother's Teammates Melissa Ivers v Rebel Bloom

Image
Two books. One title. Two very fun and different experiences.  Earlier this year I read My Brother's Teammates by Rebel Bloom and I was like Oh! Fun! And then last week I came across My Brother's Teammates by Melissa Ivers and Lasairiona McMaster and I was like ... wait, didn't I read this? Nope. Very different! And hooray! Both are sports romance, both are why choose, both are brothers best friend, and both are spicy good times but they're way different and awesome in their own ways. In Rebel Blooms book the FMC is supposed to move in with her boyfriend and on the day of the big move he freaks out and ends things. So, no place to go she shows up on the doorstep of her brother who is a quarterback heartthrob with three amazingly hot roommates. Being the awesome big brother he takes her in and lets her move in and of course she falls for all three of her brothers friends. Because of course she does. It turns into drama for her, the hotties, and her brother. Lots of hot...

Silver Foxed - Kayla Grosse

Image
It's summer and I guess that means it's time for a good, naughty, summer time read, right? Well let me introduce you to Silver Foxed.  Kayla Grosse wrote a perfect naughty beach read for you if you're looking for an age gap, dads best friend, kinky novella with a plus sized female love interest.  Did I know that's what I was looking for? Absolutely not but ... it was what I was looking for.  She's at her parents beach house relaxing before her 30th birthday. He's sent there by his best friend and boss to take some time off so he doesn't burn out. The sparks fly. It's forbidden instalust. It's delicious and delightful. There's kink, there's role play, there's public sexy times.  It's sexy, it's cute, it should be popular to boot. Seriously, I enjoyed the whole book, it's a short, quick read. Perfect for a day at the, let's say lake? Or chilling in the comfort of the air conditioning. A solid 4.5 star read to get you primed ...
