A Groom of One's Own - Emma St. Clair

A sweet, cozy romance like this may seem out of place with everything else I read but this was a perfect book for a lazy day of reading. A Groom of One's Own by Emma St. Clair is a marriage of convenience, secret love, simmering love story.

Eli is playing hockey with the AHL affiliate for the Carolina Hurricanes, the Appies, when he finds out that he has Visa trouble and needs to marry in the next 30 days to stay in the US with his ailing mother and his dream job.

He goes to his favorite spot to think, the animal shelter, where his crush, Bailey, works. They're not quite friends but there's an element of trust there and he tells her what's on his mind while he snuggles a hard to adopt pup.

Panties everywhere melt.

This book has plenty of sizzle but stops short of being spicy. Still the kisses are more than enough to get your heart rate up.

Their path to love isn't easy and is awkward - but they like awkward! - and t's fun to read. Their dates are adorable, their friends are fantastic, and when they fall it's just precious.

An easy 4/5 stars for those days when you're looking for something a little less intense.
