Hockey Boy - Brittanee Nicole
Oh the Langfield Brothers. Kings of sarcasm as a love language, ducking swear word replacements, and shenanigans that lead to true love. Of course it was time for Aiden Langfield to find his happily ever after and I am HERE FOR IT. Let's get in to it with Hockey Boy.
Aiden and Lennox were high school sweethearts who ended abruptly and both of them... kind of gave up on the whole love thing. I guess they weren't all that over after all...
Which is even more evident ten years later when Aiden proposes to his long term, and really horrible girlfriend, and Lennox winds up as their wedding planner and after their first meeting he ends the engagement. POOF. Bye horrible lady! Seriously, every mention of that chick in the previously books has made my skin crawl... she was even worse than expected. Anyway, road block gone... he keeps up the facade of being engaged and keeps planning a wedding just to stay close to Lennox. Because that's the kind of insanity these boys do to get a lady.
Does it work? Well it's a Brittanee Nicole book so, it does and in the wildest of ways. It's a fun ride with lots of drama and craziness. He uses her, she uses him, there's lots of delicious sexy time. Mostly though... I love the way they take the hard edges off one another.
Lennox is so used to having to pretend to be things she's not to make her rich-rich-snobby parents happy and all Aiden has ever wanted her to be is the most basic version of herself. Aiden doesn't have to be the life of the party, happy go lucky, everything is sunshine and roses brother he is in public when he's with her... he can be the open and vulnerable and real. They take care of each other at their most core and base levels and I love that for them.
I really hope we get more of the brothers and their insane texting and friendship and positive masculinity as she shows us the other players in the Boston Bolts series. They're my babies and I will miss them if we lose their nonsense all together just because they've all found their happily ever afters.
